Hintze Sr., 1821-1924 (original and photocopy). The collection contains material on the Hintze family record and history; information on the Turkish mission ca. late 19th century; information on the Germany mission ca. 1900; early Nebraska mission information; and names of persons emigrating November 1877 - May 1878.

Ferdinand Friis Hintze, Sr. (1854-1928) was born to Anders Hintze and Karen Sophie Nicolaisen in Roskilde, Copenhagen, Denmark. He and his family joined the Church in Denmark and two years later, when he was age ten, his family emigrated to Utah. He served several missions to the Northwestern States Mission and then to Scandinavia and Turkey. Lehi F. Hintze graduated from the University of Utah in the spring of 1941 in Geology. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery during WWII from 1941 to 1945. He returned and received his Ph.D at Columbia. Dr. Hintze has spent a lifetime committed to studying, mapping, writing and teaching about the geology of Utah.
